Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s baseball team will open its 2026 Spring season with a home game on Mike Metheny Field against Northeastern Oklahoma State University on Feb. 3, 2026.
The team’s original season opener was planned for Jan. 30, where the team would play a three-game series against the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith throughout the weekend, however, the series was delayed after remaining winter weather threats interfered.
After intense training and practice throughout the 2025 fall season, the team is geared up for an action-packed spring, with games every week.
With a full 49-man roster, the team is a mix of returners, transfers, and true freshmen. The team is also loaded with a total of 23 pitchers, 12 who are seniors.
One recent addition to the team, on the mound, is senior pitcher Dylan Hill. As a transfer, Hill hopes to contribute to the team with his 92 miles per hour fastball.
The Savage Storm enters the 2026 season following a 16–17 Great American Conference (GAC) record in spring 2025. The team’s performance secured them the eighth seed in the GAC Tournament to close the season.
On Jan. 13, 2026, the GAC released a baseball preseason poll, revealing the Savage Storm baseball team selected at ninth.
Senior Alex Showalter will return this season following up his career last season with the team record of 42 starts for 44 games.
“This year I, overall, hope to see our team grow from what we learned last year, especially with the groups of seniors we’re equipped with this year. All of us seniors have grown very close on this team together and I know we can lead this team to a successful season.”
Alongside Showalter, some key returning starters include: Ryan Kirk, Payton Poole, Brock Zimmer, Daniel Collins, and Carter Olson.
With a mix of returning players and new additions, Southeastern Oklahoma State baseball will begin the 2026 season looking to build on last year’s experience.
