With the start of November comes the end of the Henry G. Bennett Memorial Library’s annual Halloween costume contest. Creativity was on full display between children and adults alike.
From movie characters to blue-collar workers, the costumes were the main attraction.
Taking place from Wednesday, Oct 29 to Friday, Oct 31 contestants had the option to either come in person to show off and submit their costume or fill out an online form posted on their Facebook page.
Choosing from more than 20 contestants, the judges had a tough time choosing just three winners – The Fan Favorite, Best In-person Costume, and the Best Online Costume.
● Fan Favorite – Emma Williams and Oliver as a firefighter and his fire
● Best In-person Costume – Dorothy Owens as Mrs. Doubtfire
● Best Online Costume – Adrienne Rowland as a Ghostbuster
Compared to years prior, the number of participants rose significantly. Although it had a slow start, Friday came with a bang, bringing over half of the submissions.
“This year it was looking like we were starting out slowly, but then Friday, it just took off,” Librarian Andy Kramer said. ”I literally spent my entire day Friday trying to keep up with the postings”.
Laughter was contagious throughout the entire contest, and it wasn’t just the contestants who had fun. Seeing all the joy and creativity everyone brought with their costumes and pictures, happiness spread throughout.
“There’s great prizes that go out to our winners, but we do this to make everyone happy, including the staff.” Kramer said.
The next Henry G. Bennett Memorial Library Annual Halloween Contest will, with new features and options, bring your creativity boots and thinking caps with you in October 2026.
