Have you ever noticed the signs on campus, the ones in front that list the building names and the offices inside the building? They are placed in front of the buildings for informational purposes for visitors and current students.
It can sometimes be confusing for first time visitors to the Southeastern Oklahoma State University campus because the information included on the signs is inaccurate.
When I first came to campus as a transfer student, it was difficult to find the building I needed for class. I had a chance to take a campus tour but the tour was canceled because it was raining the day I came to visit the campus.
So really my first visit on campus was on the day I moved into the dorms. The first sign I noticed said the building was the Student Union, but the sign wasn’t in front of the Glen D. Johnson Student Union. Instead, the sign for the student union is located in front of the old student union, which contains the Ballroom.
But the confusion will soon be coming to an end because the Student Government Association is composing a plan to correct all the signs on campus.
I am not pointing this out to say nothing is getting done on campus, because things are getting done. Some of recent improvements are the three much-needed parking lots, adding more plants and trees to make our campus look beautiful and repainting parking zones. These things are important improvements to have because it makes the campus more appealing for prospective students.
Although the new improvements are noticeable, the signs are part of the big picture of our campus and it is important that everyone is on the same, correct page.
