As part of Storm Week activities, students were welcomed back to Southeastern with a free Ice Cream Social on Thursday, Aug. 23. The event was located in the Student Union and featured a selection of Dippin Dots provided by the Career Management Center.

“We saw a really good crowd of students come in almost immediately. It was nice to give them something free and share more information about our department,” said Ashley Teafatiller, a junior at SE and student worker for the Career Management Center.

The Career Management Center is a department that aids students and alumni in finding jobs and building careers both on and off campus. The department has recently undergone a complete update.

Kay Barber, career counsellor and coordinator of the department, has started developing sponsored events like the Ice Cream Social to inform students about opportunities available through the Career Management Center.

Barber explained that, “I wanted to ensure that students knew that there are opportunities for them to find the jobs that suit their needs both on and off campus. It’s really great to see the awareness building about the department.”
