Free flu shot opportunities for students

Flu Season is approaching us! For most people it is recommended to get a vaccine shot to prevent the flu.

Southeastern has resources in place allowing students to get a free vaccination. The first opportunity is during the Catapult event from Sept. 28 to Sept. 30. Individuals can sign up at www.timeconfirm.com/seosu while appointments last.

Another chance to get one is during the county-wide pandemic exercise at the Bryan County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Those shots will be free in a drive thru format.

There will also be an opportunity to get a vaccination here at SE in early October. Those times are to be announced.

April Lehrling, the school nurse for Southeastern, said that the school buys a number of the flu vaccinations every year for the students while supplies last. “We usually don’t run out but would love to have that problem this year,” she said. She would like to see more students show up to receive their shots.

If you are a student and want to get your flu shot, be sure to check out what our health department here on campus has to offer.
