Southeastern football held a national letter of intent signing day on Feb. 5.
The team welcomed 34 new players, including 26 incoming freshmen and eight transfers from other colleges.
A breakdown of the players by SE Sports Information revealed that 17 play offense, 12 play defense, two are kickers and two have yet to be assigned positions.
The eight transfer players include four notable football athletes, including two quarterbacks to learn the ropes from Storm veteran Nick Sioson.
Ryan Polite is a 6-2, 215-pound quarterback from DeSoto, Texas, who recently played football at Trinity Valley Community College. While there, he was selected to the NCJAA All-American Team.
Mitch Manley is a 6-4, 235-pound quarterback from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. His parents Robert & Debra Manley are former Southeastern student athletes.
Other notable transfers include a pair of talented wide receivers in Anterric Maxey from Trinity Valley CC and Layton Dworaczyk (pronounced dor-AH-check) from Texas A&M-Kingsville.
There are no Durant-area athletes among the 26 signees, with the closest being Tommy Candela of McKinney, Texas.
He is an all-purpose player who tallied 1,106 yards rushing and seven touchdowns in his senior year.
However, there is also Jacob Charvoz, a linebacker from Garland, Texas, who is a member of the Choctaw Nation according to SE. Charvoz led his district with 158 tackles last season.
Eight of the 26 players were selected to all-state teams in Texas or Oklahoma: Antonio Greer, a cornerback from Dallas Skyline; Kevin Gray, offensive guard from Coppell, Texas; Jarome Smith, running back from McAlester; Caden Pratt, wide receiver from McAlester; Brickey Reed, linebacker from Paris; Dillon Smith, offensive lineman from Meeker; Marquise McClinton, safety from Arlington (Texas) Lamar.
