All the hoopla in the media of conservative organizations trying to show that they can influence what happens in this nation has led individuals from all 50 states to petition the Union for secession.
Each petition has to have 25,000 signatures to be sent to Washington, D.C. for them to be considered for secession. There are 69 separate petitions with a grand total of 675,000 citizen’s signatures.
I have come to the conclusion that everyone has had a complete flashback to the 1860s. Then slavery was the issue, but the issue today is simply that conservatives believe President Barrack Obama is a socialist. Yes, I said it: socialism. (If it can work for Denmark, why not the United States?)
At the head of this crazy monster is none other than the state Texas. Go figure, that one. Nothing smart in the political field has emerged from there in a long time.
The city of Austin is begging the White House for protection from its citizens. And if your own capital is not endorsing your cause, what are you thinking?
The first seven states that joined Texas in this hectic commotion were Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, and these states did receive the number of signatures necessary to complete their petitions.
I would think that these states that seceded the first time around would learn that it did not work so well the first time. Just because it has been 147 years since the Civil War ended and technology has improved over time. Today, this would end up more a Cold War.
The rest of the states have not met the 25,000 signatures marker to have a successful petition
I do not see what is so wrong with our current president being in charge again; at least he knows how to keep his campaign promises. For example, he left the campaign trail to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
But where there is one side of an issue there is another. There are those who have started an anti-secession petition that will deport anyone who signs the secession petition, and one says that the signers should be stripped of their citizenship and exiled. I agree with both of these petitions — let’s get rid of them all.
Who wants to keep people if they do not believe in what the founding fathers wanted for this nation? Over 200 years ago, men bled and died so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have today.
Do the private citizens who want to leave the Union realize that without federal grants and funding they would be screwed, That does included boarder control. Well, good luck creating your own immigration policies.
What did you expect would happen? That Obama would see your petition and beg for you all to reconsider your choices? I do not think so, since he has not even replied to the allegations or had a reaction for or against your motions.
So, stop while you are ahead and remember what this country was founded on, why the Constitution was written and there is a balance between state and federal governments.
