Where did all the good drivers go? Seriously, when was the last time you drove for over 30 minutes without calling somebody stupid, a moron, an idiot, a jerk or just a ******?
It seems as though the roads have turned into a big social gathering for people who barely passed their driver’s tests. I hate to say it, but we may be the only good drivers left on the roads.
I was driving the other day through the Dallas/ Fort Worth area, and after being on the road for 10 minutes, I came to this simple conclusion: DFW has the largest amount of stupid drivers in the world.
I’ll give you an example. After a long day of being on the road, I was ready to head back to the home front of Durant.
I was pulling out of a gas station right in the middle of “The Heart of Texas,” and I couldn’t have been happier to be making my final stretch home.
But the next thing I knew, I had a car coming straight at me in the middle of my lane. This driver didn’t bother honking, swerving or even flashing his lights at me. He was too preoccupied with more important things, like tweeting about how bad traffic was.
Luckily, being the good driver that I am, I immediately cut across the lanes and pulled over into a Starbucks Coffee shop, barely missing a head-on collision.
I was infuriated at how bad of a driver this guy was. I’m pretty sure I called him every bad name in the book. Looking up and realizing that I was sitting at a Starbucks, I decide to cool down over a nice caramel latte.
After a 10-minute break, I had finally cooled off and was ready to make my way back to Durant, where there are still a few good drivers left.
But pulling out of the gas station, something caught my eye that I had never seen before. It was a huge “One Way” sign.
OK, OK, I’ll admit it. I was going the wrong direction on a one-way street in the middle of DFW. But that doesn’t make me a bad driver, does it? I mean this was the first time I ever made that big of a mistake.
Plus if the guy hadn’t been tweeting, he could have honked at me, flashed his lights or moved over into the other lane.
Can you believe that guy? He had no respect for his fellow drivers.
Sheeesh, I can’t believe how many stupid drivers there are on the road sometimes. I’m just glad I’m not one of them.
