The Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival’s surprise cabaret hit, “Four Guys Named Al,” will be returning for encore performances Sept. 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Southeastern Oklahoma State University New Theatre Building.
This hilarious cabaret features the local Southeastern talents of Dr. Aaron Adair, Dr. Jeremy Blackwood, Instructor Corey King and Chair of Art, Communication and Theatre Dell McLain, as they sing select songs from the Great American Songbook, such as “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Young at Heart” and “New York, New York.”
Written by McLain, the story follows a television studio security guard, two janitors and a junior producer who find themselves trapped in a television studio during a freak Labor Day snowstorm.
In order to save the Great American Labor Day Telethon, they’ll have to perform the last hour and 10 minutes live on their own.
McLain described it as “fast paced and funny,” and the show’s original run during the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival’s main stage season garnered widespread media and audience praise. Reviewer Lynette George of the Herald Democrat called the show “a winning combination.”
You’ll also get the chance to hear these four veteran performers singing in tight harmony on such songs as “Danny Boy” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” plus a show-stopping male version of “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
It’s a show as McLain describes “I knew my mom would love.”
The encore performances will be Sept. 14 and 15.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling the OSF box office at 580-745-2696 or by going online to www.oklahomashakes.com.
