Let us all start the new year with a big bang. I don’t mean with fireworks but with a fool proof plan to better our lives
Every year we all start off with good intentions. We intend to get in shape, lose weight or save money. I have been there and done that. But honestly, how long did that last? Not very long I’m assuming. Well, don’t worry it has never worked out for me either.
So this year I plan to have goals and make resolutions but make them looser. I think if we make simple resolutions we will still meet our goals. At least we might make it further than February.
My problem is always that I mess up or cheat and then I just give up on my elaborate resolutions. So here are some simple fun resolutions you can make and keep.
1. Fun is first. Cross something off your bucket list. We all have things we want to do before our twenties are up, or just to do before we die and so on. So this year cross off at least one thing. This resolution can be something you make a point to do every year as well.
2. This resolution is along the same idea, but go somewhere new. It doesn’t have to be a fancy vacation but maybe just a weekend trip to Branson, Mo. That is what I did this year and it was great. This you can also do once a year, every year. Just think of the sights you will see.
3. A fun thing I am going to try this year is to document every day of my life in 2015. Take a picture once a day that you add to your collection. It can be a “selfie” or just of everyday happenings. Print them off or keep a digital book and have them in order starting from Jan. 1. Think of the memories you will capture and the great photo book you can show your children when you they are older.
4. Sing more. I am not a great singer but I sing all the time. I am talking in the shower, driving, getting ready in the morning, just all the time I sing. It has been proven to put individuals in a better mood.
5. Take the stairs. Instead of taking an elevator or escalator, take the stairs. They are probably not too out of your way and this is good exercise. This is a very simple plan you can follow. I mean if you are going up 30 stories and you are running late by all means take the elevator, but on the everyday occasion take the stairs. Besides think about the buns you will get.
6. Get a tattoo. Most people usually say, “Man this would be a great tattoo.” Well if it has been in the back of your mind for a while, do it. I am a firm believer in tattoos. I plan to get another one in 2015. Write your story or personality on you. It is not a bad thing. Get it hidden where only you and a select few might see it. Or show it off to the whole world. Yes, it hurts a bit but the pain fades and just think of how long it will last. So make it a good one and get it done.
7. Stop eating fast food. I know we all get in a hurry and need a quick fix for food, but not eating fast food every day is possible. Pack a simple lunch for work or school. Chips and a sandwich are cheap, easy and fast, just like fast food. Of course you will slip up, let yourself every now and then. Just don’t spiral out of control. It is better for you health-wise and will make your bank account happier.
8. Give yourself a break. Schedule some “Me Time” every once in a while. Turn your phone off and just be with yourself. Do something fun, take yourself out and treat yourself, even if it is for an hour. It is very important to be alone, away from the world for just a little bit. It helps you collect yourself and recharge.
