Grilled cheese sandwiches are classics. They remind me of an afternoon snack and homework. So, the latter of that isn’t so great but the snacking part was wonderful.
Well I would say I don’t like cheese, but that’s a lie. I love it, in fact, and grilled cheese is one of my favorites.
Here is a new take on grilled cheese sandwiches. It is fast, easy, cheap and a perfect snack for in between classes.
Grilled Cheese Roll up
Start to finish: 3 minutes
Servings: 1
3 slices of bread
3 slices of cheese
1 tablespoon of butter
1 cup of favorite soup
Take your slices of bread and flatten it. If you have a rolling pin, use that. If you don’t have a rolling pin then flatten with your hands. Don’t be afraid to get down and dirty.
Place your cheese on the bread.
*Now I don’t know if anyone else does this, but I like mayonnaise on my grilled cheese sandwiches. Don’t throw the idea out, try it. If you don’t like it then don’t do it. But if you do enjoy it, your world may be changed forever.
If you try the mayonnaise put it on the bread before the cheese.
Roll up your bread as tight as you can. You may have to press it a bit to make it stay together.
Melt your butter in a pan on the stove. Once you have butter melted in the pan, place your roll ups in the pan seam side down. Once the seam is sealed roll the bread in the pan to get the bread thoroughly cooked.
Once it’s browned take the roll ups out and let them cool on your plate.
The soup can be used as a dipping sauce for your roll ups, but is not necessary.
Enjoy.
