A dead body was reported to campus police at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning according to Alan Burton, director of university communications.
The body was located on the southeast perimeter of campus, on the east side of the tennis courts, Burton said.
The deceased man was reported to police on Jan. 29, by an unidentified person who lives across the street from the scene, according to Burton.
The tennis courts are located to the south of University Boulevard.
According to Burton, campus police has made a positive I.D. on the body of a young white male.
According to a KTEN news report, the deceased male was wearing jeans and a red jacket when his body was discovered.
The identity of the man has not yet been released due to the on-going investigation, according to Burton.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was called in on the matter, but did not suspect foul play.
The campus police feel there is no reason for the campus community to be alarmed, according to Burton.
An email was sent out to all students, faculty and staff “just from informational stand-point,” late Wednesday morning said Burton.
Burton added that if there had been cause for alarm the university would have activated it’s alert system.
The SE alert system sends out text messages to all students to inform them of any possible dangers on campus, said Burton.
