Eric Chance Mobbs is a senior graphic design major who defends his choice to pursue a difficult carreer.
According to Mobbs, “Many art students find themselves questioning their decision to pursue such a difficult career path, but soon realize that life is art, and without art life is meaningless”
. Mobbs displayed a multitude of pieces at the senior art show, from pottery, to painting, to metal work.
The pieces are displayed in the Centre Gallery, which is located inside the Visual and Performing Arts Center on first street.
According to Mobbs diligence is what makes a successful artist. I often joke that I could have been either a serial killer or an artist, but art seemed more constructive.”
Mobbs describes art like a religious experience. “What better way to show reverence in being made in the image of God than to practice in creative endeavors?”said Mobbs.
Chance describes his experiences in the art department to be overflowing with joyful memories.
Mobbs said that what makes the art department so successful is the facult.
“The faculty, although overworked, puts more effort in than a fully staffed department. This drive to teach combined with a desire to learn makes for endless possibilities,” according to Mobbs.
“I enjoyed my education experience overall and feel that the knowledge obtained will help further my career. Education is invaluable and I received a damn good one,” said Mobbs.
