From Staff Reports
Today SE announced its new mascot, a bison. The mascot was announced to the campus at 12:30 today in the Glen. D. Johnson Student Union.
The mascot will be revealed to the community tonight at 5:30 p.m. during the Tailgate Alley at Paul Laird Field.
According to SE President Larry Minks, “The mascot is but one means of addressing the branding and identity issues that have been discussed as part of our ongoing professional development activities.”
Minks emphasized that the mascot would not only be used for athletic events.
The mascot will also be used in areas of alumni, marketing and other special occasions.
According to Luke Willman, director of external operations, “Southeastern’s mascot and nickname history is a unique story that signifies the Pride, Resilience and Strength of the university throughout its history.”
