The artwork of SE faculty, students and graduates was showcased at the “Victims in the Shadows” art exhibit at Grayson County College.
“Victims in the Shadows,” which concluded Aug. 31, displayed artwork by local artists addressing the issues of violence against women.
According to Associate Art Professor Jack Ousey, the exhibit was a juried art exhibit, meaning anyone could enter artwork to be judged by a selection committee. Acceptance was based on appropriateness to the topic of violence against women and overall aesthetic appeal.
According to Ousey the artwork of 18 SE faculty members, students, graduates and former faculty was showcased in the exhibit.
The artists include: Dustin Ballew, Gleny Beach, Alan Burris, Aimee Costa, Rudy Ellis, Donna Finch Adams, Brittany Gammon, Traci Martin, Morgan McGee, Natalie Miller, Jack Ousey, Chessie Powers, Mary Ann Russell, Geri Smith, Lee Anne Stillwell, Shelly Tate Garner, Lacy Tyner and Kimber Bosse.
The exhibit is supported by a grant from the Office of Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice and is a part of the Regional University System of Oklahoma Violence Prevention Program.
