Theatre at Southeastern has released its schedule for the 2012-13 academic year.
For those who missed “Four Guys Named Al” in the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival this summer, there are two more chances to see it.
The final two shows are Sept. 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the New Theatre Building. “Four Guys Named Al” is a musical benefit for OSF.
“Much Ado About Nothing,” the Shakespearean romantic comedy, will be in the Montgomery Auditorium on Oct. 4 through 6 with the shows starting at 7:30 p.m.
Rebecca Sparks, a senior double majoring in acting/directing and theatre management, picked “Much Ado About Nothing” as one of her favorite plays.
Sparks said, “‘Much Ado’ is one of Shakespeare’s funniest shows as well as easiest to understand.”
In November, Theater at Southeastern will bring “A Christmas Carol,” based on the Charles Dickens novel, to the Visual and Performing Arts Center. The play will run Nov. 15 through 17 and start at 7:30 p.m.
The spring 2013 semester starts off with the musical thriller “Sweeney Todd.” Show dates are Feb. 21-23 at Montgomery Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
Dustin Curry, a junior double majoring in acting/directing and theatre management, said, “Sweeny Todd is my favorite upcoming play.
“Sondheim, the composer and lyricist for ‘Sweeney Todd,’ is my favorite composer. He is the Shakespeare of our time.”
April will bring two different shows to Southeastern.
First up is the Children’s Show on April 11 at 7 p.m. in the Montgomery Auditorium.
April 22 through 26 will be the Dramapalooza Theater Festival, which will be in the New Theater Building. Times vary and will be announced at later dates.
