The Southeastern softball team had a clean sweep against Southwestern on April 5-6. This brings their season record to 36-7 overall and 21-3 in the Great American Conference.
In the first game, April 5, SE had four runs and seven hits, with three players receiving RBIs. Jacee Bennett, sophomore nursing major, pitched the game with Mindy McElroy, junior business major, coming in to relief pitch for the win. The final score was 4-2.
The second game on April 5 was tied until the bottom of ninth inning with three runs each, until senior business major Paige Priest scored the final run to make the score 4-3. Short stop Lacie Cook, junior health, physical education and recreation major, had two RBIs.
In game three on April 6, the Storm allowed SWOSU to score one run in the top of the second inning, but shut them out the rest of the game to make the score 6-1. Whitney Hamilton, sophomore pre-nursing major led in RBIs with three. Hamilton had two hits and one run at three at bats for this game.
The final game of the series was on April 6. SE allowed one run at the top of the first inning and again shut them out for a score of 7-1 to sweep the series. Laramie Beal, freshman health, physical education and recreation major, led the team with three RBIs and one homerun to help win the game.
The Great American Conference announced on April 9, that Bennett would receive her fourth Player of the Week honors for her actions during this series.
On March 29 the Savage Storm was at Arkansas Tech with a win/loss doubleheader for SE.
In game one the women lost 4-3, with Cook scoring a homerun and Courtney Moore, senior psychology major, and Lauren Renneker, sophomore criminal justice major, each earning a single RBI.
The final game was a different story for the Savage Storm, winning 4-3. Jessica Simmons, freshman undecided major, had two runs and an RBI and Cook collected three RBIs for the win.
