Southeastern is set to present the 90th annual Candlelighting ceremony and concert on Dec. 5.
The Candlelighting ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the Montgomery Auditorium.
According to the Southeastern Department of Music, the concert is titled “A Christmas Tapestry” and will include a wide variety of Christmas music.
According to the Department of Music’s website, the concert will feature the Symphonic Choir under the conduction of Dr. Stacy Weger, chair of the music department and director of choral activities.
Also performing at the event will be the Brass Ensemble and members of the Southeastern Jazz Ensemble conducted by Brian Walker, instructor of trumpet, music theory and jazz band.
Members of the Percussion Ensemble will also perform, conducted by Dr. Marc White, assistant band director and director of percussion.
Dr. Mary Ann Craig, professor of class piano, applied piano and accompanying at Southeastern will serve as the organist for the night’s festivities.
Cardinal Key and Blue Key Honor Societies will once again assist in the candle lighting portion of the evening.
According to Cardinal Key advisor April Lehrling, every year the organizations pass out programs and aids in the actual lighting of the candles during the ceremony.
The Southeastern Cultural and Scholastic Lectureship Fund and the Department of Music support the Candlelighting ceremony and concert.
