Alpha Chi National Honors Society inducted 57 juniors and seniors into their ranks in its 29 annual induction on Sunday Nov. 13.
Alpha Chi is interdisciplinary, so any and all junior and seniors who are in the top 10 percent within a university are eligible for this lifetime membership.
As a national college scholarship honors society, which was founded in 1922, Alpha Chi has more than 400,000 members from more than 300 college and university chapters.
SE is home to the Oklahoma Theta Chapter of Alpha Chi, which is sponsored by professor of mathematics Dr. Brett Elliott, professor of psychology Dr. Charla Hall, and associate professor of psychology and psychology program coordinator Dr. Jennifer Hicks.
Dr. Larry Minks, president of Southeastern, and Heater Hartline, local Alpha Chi chapter president, joined the sponsors on Nov. 13 as they welcomed the new members into the society.
In his address to the new members, Minks said, “as you took the Alpha Chi pledge of membership you became a permanent part of this universities past, our present and our future…always remember that if you work hard, if you persevere, you will achieve your dreams.”

This meeting, of the officers, took place on Tuesday Nov. 22 where many items were discussed including fundraisers and donation opportunities.
Elliott said one of the first things that Alpha Chi decided to do was donate $200 to Families Feeding Families, which is a local organization that makes sure that underprivileged families have food. This donation was delivered to the organization directly on Tuesday Nov. 29.
Students should look forward to seeing more events sponsored by Alpha Chi in the coming semester.
