Durant Main Street is hosting their annual Mistletoe Market from Nov. 27 to Dec. 18.

This year’s Mistletoe Market will be located in front of City Hall on Evergreen Street between Third and Fourth Avenue. This event will be held every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Dec. 18.  The market will also be open on Friday, Dec. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m as part of Holiday First Friday.

Market attendees will have the opportunity to shop locally, make crafts and get a head start on purchasing Christmas gifts.

Interested students also have the opportunity to run their own booth at the event. Sarah Lewis, Executive Director of Durant Main Street, believes that events like these during the Christmas season are great opportunities for vendors to sell their products if they cannot afford a storefront.

There are a variety of products available to the public such as jewelry, homemade soaps and oils, jams and jellies, fresh bread, wooden crafts and ornaments. The diversity amongst what can be sold at the market is one primary factor that students could consider when deciding whether to run a booth.

To complete a vendor application, visit durantmainstreet.org. Vendors will be asked to indicate the items they intend on selling. Any vendor who has not sold at the Magnolia Farmers Market before must also pay a $50 membership fee and return it to the Durant Main Street office located on 110 N. 2nd Avenue in Durant.

Shopping locally supports small businesses in the community and promotes future growth. “By shopping local, whether in the shops of Main Street or the vendor booths at the Mistletoe Market,” said Lewis, “you are helping ensure money supports those in your community and the community as a whole.”
