Masks are no longer required on campus, however, Southeastern is encouraging everyone who can get the vaccine to do so.

In response to the recent CDC guidance, and the availability of COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, Southeastern Oklahoma State University has lifted the mandated use of face covering on the Durant and McCurtain County campuses.

This also includes no longer requiring face coverings at University sponsored event or activities, and will be effective immediately.

We remind everyone to continue to remain vigilant with hand-washing, cleaning and sanitizing, and if you are sick, take precautions to limit your exposure to others. For those that have not yet received the vaccination, we encourage you to do so.

Campus community members and visitors may continue to voluntarily wear masks based on their own needs.

As a University we will continue to monitor COVID cases. Southeastern will continue protocols for illness reporting, quarantine/isolation and track/trace. The University will release additional updates on policies and protocols as necessary. Our commitment to a safe and healthy environment continues.

Please also note that the University is moving forward with the Summer and Fall guidance that we issued on April 9.

Summer 2021 – The University is continuing to transition to pre-COVID campus summer operations, involving students, faculty, staff and University visitors, such as summer camps, curriculum programs, and events. This will include events on campus by off-campus groups and entities. The University will allow off-campus groups and entities to begin scheduling the use of campus facilities on June 1. This will allow for campus organizations to ensure that they have first priority for future scheduling and use of facilities that are currently being scheduled. The University will still be under the restriction of no overnight camps or groups on campus or in the residence halls during the summer. This Summer we will also be hosting events for alumni and friends of the University. Notification of events will be posted on the University website and on University and affiliate social media pages.

Fall 2021 – The University will return to face-to-face classes and events in the Fall, with a full University calendar that allows for visitors on campus. This may be modified in specific instances based on conditions during the semester or planning that was already in place prior to this decision. Changes in course seat limits and delivery will be rolled into the schedule as the departments assess individual sections. As changes to mode of delivery on our current Fall schedule occur, students who are enrolled at that time will be notified. The University will return to pre-COVID operations in campus dining and in the residence halls. We will also begin planning for Homecoming weekend October 15-17, with our traditional celebrations like Distinguished Alumni and bonfire. Students activities, performances and other events on and off campus will also return based on scheduling and facility availability.

It is our goal to stay healthy through the summer in order to conduct the Fall semester under pre-COVID operations. Be aware that this guidance is subject to change based on developments or recommendations from the Oklahoma State Department of Health or the Center for Disease Control.
