Time management can be difficult, but keeping track of your tasks and obligations can be made easier by using a planner, or making daily checklists.

College can be stressful. Sometimes it is tough to manage classes, homework, jobs, extracurriculars and enjoy your social life. Rest assured; you’ve got this! Time management can be difficult, but here are a few tips to help you get started.

One of the most important parts of managing your time is leaving time for yourself. Self-care is key to being successful. You must take care of yourself before you can take care of other things.

Secondly, stop procrastinating. It seems so much easier to nap instead of completing your homework assignment. You tell yourself you will have plenty of time to do it this weekend, but what happens when your friends want to make a last-minute trip to Sherman? You may end up working on an assignment at 11:45 p.m. that is due at 11:59 p.m.. Do the homework— delay the nap. It will be worth it later, and your future self will thank you.

With this in mind, try to complete your assignments at the beginning of the week. Choose certain days to finish each assignment, and do not change those plans. This will keep the end of your week a little less chaotic and you will have a nice break to look forward to.

To keep track of these assignments, use a planner. When you have multiple responsibilities a week, keeping a planner allows you to be more organized when it comes to managing your time. Make sure to keep your planner updated and use it regularly.

Something that may help motivate you is to check tasks off of a to-do list. Creating a to-do list every day, or even each week, and checking these tasks off helps build a sense of accomplishment.

Make sure you leave room for your home and social life. This is important in preserving your mental health. Take a night off work or school assignments to spend time with the people in your life who make you smile.

Take a breath. Take a moment. Smile. Breathe. It is going to be okay. You are doing great, and you will be successful. Utilize your time efficiently and get some of the stress out of your life. You can do it.
