Southeastern Oklahoma State University has announced the new Savage Storm Leaders for the Spring and Fall 2020 semesters. Savage Storm Leaders are an outstanding group of campus leaders and role models who assist in welcoming incoming freshman to the university.

The following students were named 2020 Savage Storm Leaders, Haley Hostetler, Spencer Patton, Rylee Dunlap, Charity Whitson, Carli Wharton, Danielle Doggett, Josiah Jones, Christian

Grinolds, Kateleigh Wright, Larissa Flores, Madison Ellis, Elaina Stuart, Malori Underwood Mekenzie Cruz, Bryanna Phillips, Demi Oloyede, Jay Carr and Zaycia Guthrie.

Malori Underwood, a freshman majoring in psychology, says she became a Savage Storm Leader because, “they made me feel so welcome when I first came to Southeastern and I want to make the new students feel the same way.”

To be a Savage Storm Leader, students must fill out an application through Southeastern Student Life, as well as go through a private and group interview. Upcoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors can apply for the leadership role as long as they maintain a cumulative 2.25 GPA.

Once chosen, Savage Storm Leaders are dedicated to bettering themselves and getting ready for the Big Blue Experience and Freshman Orientation through trainings and a Savage Storm Leader retreat. These two events are designed for incoming freshman to learn more about Southeastern and make connections with their new classmates. Big Blue Experience takes place at Cross Point Camp in Kingston, SSL’s train all spring to get ready for the event.

Savage Storm Leader applications are disbursed during the fall semester. If interested, more information is available in room 303 of the Glen D Johnson Student Union.
