Southeastern Oklahoma State University held a block party Tuesday, Aug. 22 as part of welcome week. The event took place on 4th and University Street in front of North Hall. The block party featured many local vendors including Marco’s Pizza.

The event also had other food including snow cones, popcorn, and hotdogs, all free for students with a valid student ID. The event had a lot of fun and exciting activities like a mechanical bull and blowups. The block party was also a great way for students to win free prizes. All students had to do was sign in at the entry. The National Guard gave away free coffee mugs to students that could stay on their foam arm inflatable.

“There is a lot of activities going on here and whenever you see everyone getting involved it’s good for the campus community,” said Donte Garrett of the National Guard.

Southeastern’s block party was a opportunity for new students to meet new people and have a great time hanging out with their friends.

“We’ve had a really great turnout, there’s a lot of people and everybody is enjoying the food and music,” said Southeastern student, Kelsey Janway.
