If you ever get on the Southeastern school website you probably know the oval shaped SE logo well, but if you have been on recently you may have noticed a change. Instead of the usual SE logo there is a new one, as well as a virtual campus tour being one of the main website updates.
The new logo will not replace the oval SE logo for sports, but will help to “bolster the vision of moving the university forward and strengthening the university brand”, according to the press release that was issued Jan. 15.
The logo will be a formal logo that will better represent the university’s academic capacity. The roofed columns used in the new design represent the institution of higher education, which are held up by the pillars of knowledge. The sun emblem inside the pillars represents a school motto that originates from 1923, “The School of the Rising Sun.”
The design of the new logo represents the historical aspects of campus, while also showing the excellence which we strive for in academics. It was designed by Jack Ousey who is an Associate Professor for Arts, Communication, and Theater. Academic Partnerships, a higher education marketing group, used his designs to make the final logo.
