As football season approaches, the savage storm is making final preparations for the beginning of their 2014 season. The NCAA and CBS Sports Network released their slate of Division II football contests that will be nationally televised. On this list, Southeastern’s road trip to Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Ark. on Sept. 18 will be aired. The game will be aired on the CBS Sports Network, which is channel 221 on DIRECTV or channel 158 on Dish Network. Keith Baxter, Director of Athletics, stated “This is a great opportunity for our institution as well as our athletic department and football program to be showcased at a high level.” “We are excited and want to put our best foot forward. We appreciate commissioner Will Pewitt’s support to push to have the GAC showcased this way and we are proud to represent the GAC, said Baxter.” Ryan Harkness, senior defensive line, shared, “The spotlight is on us, but what matters is what we have done preparing when no one is watching. It’s all about if you love the process, ‘fight the good fight, finish the course and keep the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7.’” If any students are interested in going to the game, Southeastern has provided three charter buses that are available for $10 a person. This trip includes transportation, tail gaiting, a t-shirt, and admission to the game. Students can sign up in the office of student life on the third floor or the student union.
