Re-run Junction, located on First Street offers the lowest thrift store prices I’ve seen in Durant.
This is a relatively small shop, but it is bursting with value.
If you only have $5 in your pocket, you can walk out of this store with three bags full of merchandise and $3.75 in change.
This shop is defiantly easy on your pocketbook.
The thing that strikes you first when you walk in to the Junction is a wall of children’s toys.
The second thing that will strike you is that most of the toys don’t have price tags.
This is because the employees give the toys away each time a family with children comes in.
“We try to give at least one toy to each child,” said Saundra Wilson, who has been an employee at the Junction for nine months.
My favorite thing about the store is that they are a non-profit thrift shop that is affiliated with Big Five.
“Big Five’s purpose is to identify, address and eradicate the causes and conditions of poverty within its service area,” according to bigfive.org.
According to Wilson, Re-run Junction donates to the less fortunate and helps people in need reach their full potential through work.
I’ve never met a rude employee here and Wilson was kind enough to let me in the store an hour early to allow me to take photos. Now that’s customer service.
For the jolly at heart, decorating for the holiday season can be pretty pricey.
Not to fear, the holiday decorations at Re-Run Junction are 25 cents or less.
They have everything you could need from ornaments, figurines and those slightly creepy one-eyed nutcrackers.
Books are ridiculously cheap at the Junction. Hardback books are 50 cents and paperbacks are just 25 cents.
I even spied a few college textbooks on the shelves.
The clothing prices in the Junction are jaw dropping.
Pants, skirts, blouses and jackets can all be purchased for $1.
Shoes of all kinds are no more than $2.
In all the hours I have spent at Re-run Junction I have never came across an item that was more than $5.
There are two flaws with Re-run Junction: consistent store hours and the quantity of merchandise.
The store hours posted on the front of the store have not always been accurate.
There have been a few times when I showed up and the store was closed thirty minutes early.
I wish that the store hours were more consistent.
Perhaps I’m being a little selfish when I say the shop lacks quantity.
I just want more of their nice, cheap goodies.
The entire store is about as big as a living room so it would be nice if they could expand their store so that they could handle more merchandise.
Re-Run Junction is a Thrift Shopper’s Thrift Shop.
It has a lot of quality and a friendly staff, but lacks in consistency and quantity.
Overall I give Re-run Junction four out of five stars.
