The Chorvettes Stageworks Company performed their Spring Show in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 13. The Chorvettes sang a variety of songs including broadway hits such as “Rent”,popluar music such as “American Idiot” and American Classics such as “Over the Rainbow.”
After The Chorvettes performed a couple more songs, there was a special guest appearance by “Four Guys Named Al”; this comedic act includes SE faculty members.
The members of “Four Guys Named Al” are Dell McLain, director of theatre, chair and professor of the art, communication and theatre department, Jeremy Blackwood, music instructor, Cory King, former faculty member of Southeastern, and Dr. Aaron Adair, assistant dean of adult and online education and the assessment management system coordinator. According to Blackwood, “ The cabaret style show was “Fun and exciting.”
The Chorvettes ended their performance with “Seasons of Love.” The emcees were Nicholas Growall, a senior broadcastin major and Rebecca Ford, a freshman acting /directing major. Dustin Curry, a Junior acting/directing and theatre managment double major, warmed the crowd up with his performance of what he calls, “a naïve tourist clown.” According to Curry, the Chorvettes performance was very enjoyable
The Chorvettes are a musical theater and dance troupe that perform at Southeastern and are also available to perform in the areas surrounding Durant by arrangement.
The Chorvettes this year have ten members; in the Soprano section, Sarah Englutt, a freshman safety major from Colbert, and Sarah Hodson a freshman elementary education major from Durant.
In the alto section are Jordan Hedrick, a junior elementary education major from Cameron, Kylie Page, a junior musical theater and acting and directing double major from Irving, Texas and Mindamora Rocha ,a sophomore musical theatre major from Gainesville, Texas.
In the tenor section are Taylor Donaldson, a senior theatre management and promotions major from Idabel, and Domanick Hubbard, a junior musical theatre major from Gainesville, Texas.
In the bass section, are Jonathan O’Brien a senior safety major from Dixon, Trent Pratt, a junior musical theater and safety double major from Wright City, and Britton Wright, a freshman safety major from Haworth.
The director of the Chorvettes’ is Dell McLain, The choreographer is Jennifer Wills-Rizzo, and their vocal coach is Deborah Clements.
