DURANT, Okla. – No. 31 Southeastern dropped a trio of hard fought doubles matches and struggled to recover in a 5-1 loss to No. 16 Midwestern State over the weekend at the Southeastern tennis Complex.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 6-6 overall on the year heading into the Great American Conference opener on April 7 at Harding in Searcy, Ark.

The 12th ranked doubles duo of Carlos Anez and Ondrej Nice hit a rare bump as MSU’s No. 30 ranked pair of Dillon Pineda and Nolan Mcaig swiped a 9-7 win at one doubles.

Danrich Kruger and Sandro Lena were tripped up at the two position, 8-5, while Matias Vargas and Milos Vuckovic fell 8-4 at the three doubles spot.

SE slipped into a 4-0 deficit with a loss at the top singles position by Anez, but Lena answered with a 6-1, 6-1 win over MSU’s No. 44 ranked singles player Angel Palacios to close the gap to 4-1.

Unfortunately, Nice would fall at the two position and MSU would clinch the match 5-1, despite Kruger and Vargas holding leads at the four and five positions.
