Fall is in the air
October 10, 2016
The much anticipated, most wonderful time of the year has finally begun: fall. Fall is three months long, but almost always ends much too soon.
As temperatures down South dip into the 40s and 50s, tasteful seasonal decorating requires at least one nice gourd on the front porch.
Some were so eager for fall temperatures that they bought a pumpkin when they first arrived in stores or when the pumpkin patches first opened in late August and early September. Sadly, those early pumpkins are now rotten piles of mildew and orange goo and have long been discarded.
Not to worry though! Baker’s Acres Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze have opened for the fall season.
There are a variety of things to do at Baker’s Acres such as, interaction with barnyard animals, hay rides, the snack shack, a giant bounce pillow, a train ride, a corn maze, a hay mountain and much more!
Located at Baker Pecans bakery 11250 S Muldrow Rd, Tishomingo, OK. They are open October 1 to October 31 Monday through Friday by reservation Saturday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday 1-6 p.m. Fall Break 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Another fun fall activity is the Fort Washita Ghost Tours. Located at Fort Washita – 3348 State Rd. 199, Durant. The Ghost Tours will take place from October 26 to October 29 and start at 7:00 p.m.
This walking tour of Fort Washita will feature ghostly tales as told by veteran storyteller and historical reenactor, Steve Abolt.
Guests will be treated to numerous stories, both old and new, while enjoying a candle-lit tour of the historic site. Attendance is limited to those with reservations only. Admission is $10 per visitor.

Autumn is one of the most packed holiday seasons. There is the back to school rush, Halloween, Thanksgiving and of course Christmas.
But it is not just full of regular holidays, these are all very involved, family centered holidays.
This is a season to be thankful and to be surrounded by the people you love.
