Delicious Blue Bell ice cream recalled once again
October 3, 2016
Blue Bell ice cream has always been a necessity of anyone’s cheat diet or comfort food. They are also well known for their many outstanding flavors, such as Cookie Dough Two Step. Although the brand may have its fame from their fantastic palette pleasures, they have also faced scrutiny from having numerous recalls on their ice cream.
Recently Blue Bell, the Brenham, Texas based company, had to recall many of their ice cream flavors because they could be contaminated with Listeria. Listeria is a bacteria that, if ingested by very young children or old adults, can lead to severe sickness. The company says that no illnesses have been reported yet and that they are doing the recall out of an abundance of caution.
Many people are not very happy because they cannot go to the store and get their favorite ice cream. Stores usually struggle to keep it on the shelves if there is not a recall on it but it practically disappears when a recall happens. “Honestly it’s like the great ice cream depression of 2016”, said ice cream aficionado, Russell Hopkins.
Some Blue Bell customers have stayed loyal to the brand all their lives. According to Blake Jones, a student at Southeastern, it has been a comforting thought that Blue Bell would take its product off the shelves for the safety of its customers. “It says a lot about a company that they pull a product for even the slightest possibility of danger”, Jones said. Thinking of their customers at the degree of not selling their product is viewed highly respectful in the eyes of the community, which is why Blue Bell is such a famous and delicious ice cream brand.
