Sean Braddy: a viable candidate for Oklahoma senator
September 20, 2016
Sean Braddy is running for Oklahoma senator. The difference in current senators and Braddy are their religious views. Oklahoma is a large part of the Bible Belt so Sean Braddy being openly atheist it is a big deal.
Braddy said he grew up in the 1970s and saw the Ku Klux Klan and other white opponents of desegregation do things all in the name of religion. He said he considered himself a Christian at that time but the disturbing behavior of people who also called themselves people of faith was confusing.
Braddy is a community activist and family man who believes in fairness and justice. He is not a politician, but is inspired by the progressive movement and what it means for all of us.
For seventeen years, he has worked with disadvantaged youth in several settings. He has spent the last seven years working as a youth career coach, helping young adults earn their GED and move into education and/or work.
Braddy often tells them, “change the way you think.” He encourages them to be brave and to remember that their struggles do not define them. He said don’t be afraid to step out there. When it comes down to it, we are all in the same boat.
The needs and wants of millions of us are ignored for the benefit of billionaires and large corporations.
If Sean Braddy were voted into the Oklahoma senate, he would not allow the attempted destruction of the public education system. Which is already on a slippery slope as is.
Vote for a candidate that is not tied to the rich. Vote for someone who will fight for you.
