The 2010-11 men’s basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the LSC North Division preseason poll.
The Southeastern men’s basketball team has been picked to finish fifth in the Lone Star Conference North Division in the league’s preseason poll released on Thursday, Nov. 28.
The poll is based on votes of the coach, the sports information director and a media representative from each institution.
SE earned 50 points in the voting and was 31 points behind fourth-place Southwestern Oklahoma State.
The Savage Storm will open the season on Nov. 18 when it hosts the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at 7 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
Central Oklahoma was the unanimous top pick in the North Division, earning all 20 first place votes.
Following Central Oklahoma were Northeastern State and Texas A&M-Commerce in second and third, respectively.
Cameron was picked sixth, followed by East Central in seventh to round out the poll.
Midwestern State was the top pick in the South Division with 12 first place votes, while Tarleton State was second with five first place votes, edging out Angelo State in third with three first place votes.
West Texas A&M rounded out the top four teams in the South.
UCO’s Dauntae Williams was named the North Division Preseason Player of the Year following an All-American performance in 2009-10, while ASU’s LaMarshall Corbett was tabbed the South Division Player of the Year after leading the conference and the region in scoring a season ago.
