Pedagogy is a process of teaching. The annual Pedagogy Art Exhibition is meant to be “an illustration of what happens from our teaching and students learning,” said Gleny Beach, Director of Visual Arts at Southeastern.

Pedagogy 2016 began on Jan. 20 and will continue until Feb. 23. The exhibition is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its closing reception will be held on Feb. 23 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. It is located at the Centre Art Gallery in the Visual Performing Arts Center.

“The event provides art students with an opportunity to show their work,” said Beach. The purpose of the exhibition is to display the kind of work that faculty and students are creating.

In addition, the exhibition “recognizes students who have excelled with particular works” by awarding prizes to exceptional artwork in the show, said Beach.

Students and faculty are also given the opportunity to sell their works with no commission, meaning that 100 percent of the proceeds go directly to the artist, she said.

If anyone is interested in purchasing artwork from the show they should contact Gleny Beach at [email protected] or (580)745-2352 or Jane Umsted, the director for the Centre Art Gallery, at [email protected] or (580)745-3292.
