The Savage Storm kicked off the new season with a home game against the Henderson State Reddies.

The Storm fell to the Reddies last season with a score of 60-17, this year SE loss with a score of 23-16.

SE was the first to throw points on the board with a 37 yd field goal by kicker, Jake Walters in the first quarter.

The Reddies answered with two touchdowns by TB, Ryan McDonald and WR, JaVante Mack in the second quarter.

Southeastern WR, Franky Okafor gained a touchdown from a 36 yd pass form QB, Ryan Polite with just six seconds left on the clock, putting the score at 14-9 Henderson at the end of the first half.

HSU RB, Jaquan Cole rushed for ten yards to score a touchdown in the third.   SE battled against the Reddies defense and gained one last touchdown with RB, Ronnie Green rushing 14 yards near the end of the fourth.

The Storm were fourth and goal but the pass from Ryan Polite to Maxey-Meshileya was incomplete.

Henderson then took possession of the ball and ran out the clock, finishing the game with a win of 23-16.

Offensive lineman, Reese Harred, said “ I think this is just a bump in the road. It came down to the goal line at the last second.”

The game itself may have not turned out like the players would haved hoped, but there were plenty of smiling faces after RB, Kaymon Farmer, proposed to his girlfriend on the field post game. She said yes!

The Storm are traveling to Arkansas for their next game against Ouachita Baptist on Sept. 12.
