Both the Southeastern men and women’s tennis team opened the fall season with a record of 2-0 after their victories over Oklahoma Baptist University and Crowley County Community College.
The men beat OBU 7-2 and then followed with 6-3 victory over CCCC.
Against OBU, Alberto Blesa and Tiago Ferriera came out with an 8-6 victory at the No. 1 doubles position, while Billy Haugen and Renato Joao followed up with an 8-4 win at the No. 3 spot.
In singles play, Blesa came out with another win at the No. 1 singles position. Ferriera also earned another victory in singles play at the No. 3 position.
In the competition against CCCC, the Storm would also jump out to a 2-1 lead against Cowley County. Petar Popovic and Vlad Aikmenko won 8-2 at the No. 2 doubles position, along with Haugen and Joao winning at No. 3.
Blesa received another win at No. 1 in singles play, along
with Aguillara and Chris Carillo.
The women’s team came out with 6-3 victories over both OBU and CCCC.
Dariaja Catipovic and Conchi Assiego got the first win against OBU at the No. 2 doubles position along with an 8-0 win by Ilga Racika-Racko and Paula Martinez at No. 3.
Catipovic played the No. 3 singles position gaining the first in singles play.
Martinez followed with another victory at No. 4, Assiego winning at No. 5 and Racika- Racko also winning at No. 6.
In the battle against CCCC, the Storm received wins from the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams, followed by wins from Catipovic, Milena Vitez, Martinez and Assiego.
Both the men and women will be competing as individuals at the Collin County Tournament on Oct. 10. The Plano Invitational is Oct. 17 and will also feature individual play.
