The men of the Southeastern golf team traveled to Fort Smith, Ark. to attend the Lion’s Classic on March 25-26. The Savage Storm had to battle cool weather conditions on the course and placed overall fourth for the tournament.
Freshman Marcos Seville Suatez placed tied for 36th. Junior business major Greyden Blevins placed second. Christopher George a Kinesiology major placed 18th. Matt McIntosh a freshman accounting major tied for 11th place and Jeff Hunter, a junior business major tied for 48th.
The golf team traveled to Danville, Ark. to play the David Falconer Memorial Invitational March 11-12 where the Storm competed against 10 different schools from Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri.
The team overall tied for fifth place. Hunter tied for third place with 147 strokes, three strokes away from first place.
Other SE players who placed at the invitation were; Suatez who tied for 17th, Robert Perry a junior business major tied for 28th, Blevins tied 41st and senior Carson Daniel a health, physical education and recreation major and George tied for 48th.
The team started their second half of the season with traveling to Henderson, Nev. to play in the Las Vegas Desert Classic. The Storm played in rough conditions battled against strong winds to place ninth overall. Hunter played another strong match tying for 16th place.
The fellow golfers that also placed at the tournament McIntosh tied for 24th, George tied for 43rd, Perry tied for 58th and Blevins tied for 69th.
Coach Don Hudson said, “We were in third and we did not have a good last round, and the teams there are very competitive. One of the reasons we went there is because we saw a lot of good teams that we need to be able to beat that we will meet at the end of the year.”
Up next for the SE golf team will be the UCO-Gaillardia Classic in Edmond, Okla. on April 3.
