The Southeastern Oklahoma State football team dominated Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday night at Paul Laird Field. The Savage Storm trampled over the Rangers in 41-2 Homecoming victory.
Damien Brown was strong in the run game, rushing for three touchdowns on the night. He also put up a season-high 79 yards.
Ryan Hirt knifed through the Rangers’ defense, running for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only four carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Savage Storm shut down Northwestern’s offense, not allowing a single touchdown the entire game. Mike Hookfin was all over the field for Southeastern, with seven tackles and one interception on the night. P.J. Larry intercepted a pass and ran for a 52-yard return.
Tyveon Williams, a safety for Southeastern, shared his thoughts about the statement win.
“I felt like this was a good win for us all across the board,” Williams said. “The key to us winning was executing our game plan and putting the pieces together as a team.”
The victory gives Southeastern its first win of the season, lifting the record to 1-3 on the young season. The Savage Storm look to repeat their success as they prepare to take on the Ouachita Baptist Tigers in Arkadelphia, Ark., on Saturday.
