The COVID-19 pandemic has placed more tension than usual on students’ shoulders. Southeastern Oklahoma State University offers multiple services to help students manage their mental health.
The SE Counseling Center currently offers free services in an online format. “We are seeing clients through Zoom. We have two therapists and two interns,” said Debra Fulencheck, Wellness Coordinator and clinical counselor.
Students in quarantine may find themselves feeling especially isolated. SE now hosts weekly “Let’s Talk” sessions to help with these feelings on Mondays from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m.. The meetings begin with a 15-minute peer discussion before students have the opportunity to speak to a counselor privately.
Another available resource is Learn to Live, a confidential, online coaching service that students may access at any time, any day of the week. The program uses cognitive behavioral therapy to help students understand and manage the causes of stress, anxiety and depression.
