I recently went to Sherman to have a girls’ night out consisting of dinner and a movie. Dinner took place at Logan’s Roadhouse, which had great service and even better food.
The movie was Ivan Reitman’s “No Strings Attached,” which was also outstanding. Reitman is also known for “My Super Ex-Girlfriend.”
“No Strings Attached” is a romantic comedy filled with highly relatable relationship quirks.
Dr. Emma Kurtzman (Natalie Portman) and Adam Franklin (Ashton Kutcher) met at summer camp as children and constantly reappear in each other’s lives over a series of 15 years.
After some unfortunate news, Adam calls Emma in drunken desperation one night, which leads to a morning hookup, which then leads to panic at the idea of destroying a perfect friendship.
However, they soon come up with an arrangement to become friends with benefits with no intentions of ever becoming romantically involved.
However, this plan doesn’t go as expected and, as many would predict, they fall for each other, much to the unhappiness of Emma, who would rather be alone than ever put herself on the line for hurt and disappointment.
Adam, on the other hand, is thrilled that after years of secretly wanting her, she finally might be ready to return affection.
As with most comedies with Kutcher, this flick is filled with nonstop laughter, and Portman also strongly contributes to the ironic truths this film depicts with regard to what is becoming a fairly normal situation in our society.
Although I would classify this as a chick flick designed for a night out with the girls, there were plenty of couples of all ages in the packed theater.
I would definitely recommend seeing this film. This movie tugs at the heart strings of our generation and keeps you laughing through its entirety.
