Following the losses to East Central University, the Southeastern baseball team will not be heading to Enid for the Great American Conference Championship Tournament.
The three-game series against ECU brought the Storm’s season to an abrupt end. The Storm ended its season with a record of 23-20 overall and 15-15 in GAC play.
The Savage Storm traveled to ECU on April 26-27, in the lead already, the series went 2-1 in favor of ECU.
SE lost the first game on April 26, 6-5. SE had 12 hits, scoring five runs on 12 hits and two errors.
SE answered back on April 27, winning game two of the series 8-1. Junior safety major Tucker Alexander earned three RBIs and scored two runs. Senior safety major Nick Grimmett earned three RBIs and Chevis Springer, junior safety major, scored two runs.
Then SE went into the final game on April 27 and lost 10-9 to the Tigers. SE scored nine runs on 11 hits, and Savage Storm batters collected eight RBIs.
Before the Savage Storm went to ECU, the men had to play Southwestern Oklahoma State for their last home conference series on April 20-21.
April 20 was also senior day for the baseball team. Nine graduating seniors and their families were presented to the home crowd before the game.
The nine seniors are Grimmett, kinesiology major Brandon Marris, communication major Troy McCartney, safety major Corey George, aviation administration major Levi Lewis, health, physical education and recreation major Eddie Cervantes, recreation major David Cagle, recreation major Vance Wooddruff and recreation major Cameron Mann.
On April 20 SE beat SWOSU 12-10. Evan Ramsey, a sophomore safety major, led the team with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. The team had four errors. Woodruff pitched the game and had six strikeouts and walked four players out of 30 players at bat.
Game two of the series was another win for SE against SWOSU, 6-3. Aaron Chalk, a junior safety major, led the team with a home run, three RBIs and a single scoring run. The team scored its six runs with eight hits.
In the final game, SE lost to SWOSU, 11-2. The team had a single RBI with two runs and one error.
