Tie-down roper Dillon Holder was the only member of Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s rodeo team to earn a spot at the Collegiate National Finals Rodeo. The 65th annual CNFR was held in Casper, Wyo. June 9-15.
The top three people in each event, the top two teams and the men’s and women’s all-around from the different divisions across the country move on to the CNFR. Holder, a junior from Vian, ended the regular season in second place with 455 points.
At the CNFR Holder was in fourth place with a score of 8.6 seconds after the first go. After the second go Holder dropped to 42nd with a score of 22.9 seconds. At the end of the third go Holder was in 35th place with a score of 21.6 seconds. Holder did not score high enough to make it to the short go.
During Southeastern’s Athletic Picnic held May 1, the Most Valuable Players for the different sports teams at SE were announced. Holder was voted MVP for the men’s rodeo team and Austee Anderson, a senior from Hannibal, Mo. was voted MVP for the women’s rodeo team. The MVP’s are chosen by a majority of their teammates.
