The Great American Conference awarded the Southeastern golf team with the Golf Sportsmanship Award.
The winner for this award is chosen by coaches and league officials through a point system.
The team is coached by Don Hudson.
The prize for winning the sportsmanship award is that of a GAC banner similar to those given out for championship winners.
The Southeastern golf team also finished with two All-Great American Conference honorees: Robert Perry for honorable mention and Greyden Belvins for second team selection. According to an SE news release, this is the first year the SE golf team has gone to the regional competition since 2008.
Belvins was also chosen as MVP for the 2012-2013 season in SE golf. The SE MVPs for each sports team were announced at the Athletic Picnic held May 1. Hudson said the players chose the MVP based upon “who they felt did the most to help our team.”
The MVP is chosen by majority vote of their teammates. Emily Gentle was chosen as the MVP for the Southeastern women’s volleyball team.
According to volleyball head coach Jennifer King, the vote for the women’s volleyball MVP was a tight one, between three different girls. In many categories Gentle was a leader in statistics and a player that the other teammates got along with.
King said, “She has been stepping into a leadership position and she has become someone I believe her teammates want to emulate on the court. That being said, she does not act as if that is the case. She is humble and was very thankful to her teammates after receiving the award.”
Chris Roussell was chosen as the MVP for the Southeastern men’s basketball team.
Head coach for men’s basketball Kelly Green said this is “because of his playing ability throughout this season, dependability each day at practice or games, character on and off the floor, leadership with his teammates, and his academic success. “
MVPs chosen in other sports were: Bailey Welch, women’s basketball; Travis Kincheloe, men’s football; Kayla Sanders, women’s cross country; Courtney Moore, softball; and Evan Ramsey, Baseball.
In rodeo the MVPs were Dillon Holder and Austee Anderson.
. In tennis Andreea Georgescu and Luka Radulovic were chosen as MVP.
