November saw not only the Savage Storm’s last home game, but also the last away game of the season. The last home game was Nov. 3 when the Storm hosted Harding University from Arkansas. At the end of the game the score was 9- 31. The away game was held in Ada at East Central University and ended in a 31- 17 loss.
The home game was held during senior week and before the game the seniors were introduced and met on the field by their families or coach. The senior football players weren’t the only ones honored. Seniors from the band, cheerleading and dance team were also recognized and met on field by their families.
The Savage Storm got off to bad start when Aaron Gillaspie picked off the first pass of the game by Jercolby Bradley. The pick would end up being a touchdown in the next drive.
The next offensive play the Storm would have a fumble forced by Gillaspie that ended with a field goal and the Bison up 10-0 in the first quarter. That was the only turnovers the Storm committed, but it set the tone for the rest of the game.
The Storm scored in the second quarter with a 19-yard field goal by Chris Peoples. Southeastern would score again in the fourth quarter when Nick Sloson connected with Ryan Shelly for a touchdown with five minutes left in the game.
The last game of the season against the East Central Tigers started strong with Chris Peoples hitting a season best 42-yard field goal in the first quarter. In the second quarter CJ Kirk rushed for four yards and a touchdown. The touchdown and field goal that followed put the Storm up 10-0. At halftime the Storm led the Tigers 17-0.
The second half saw the Tigers make a comeback. The field goal attempt by Brian Gonzalez was good, putting the Tigers on the board 17-3. The lead the Storm had in the beginning would fall away as the Tigers came back from behind to win 17-31.
The loss against the Tigers brings the rivalry’s record to an even 45-45-6. The Storm ends the season with a 4-6 overall record and a 2-6 conference record.
