Southeastern women’s basketball team schedule for 2012-2013 schedule is now available on the athletics website, www.gosoutheastern.com.
The team had an 11-17 record last season and had a win against the No. 1 seed and nationally ranked Arkansas Tech in the first round of the Great American Conference tournament.
Southeastern women’s basketball team suffered some changes from the last season. The team has eight freshmen: Cheree Kiser, LaQuencia Dorsey, Taylor Richards, Breana Small-Peppers, Madison Thames, Shelby Hill, Gunnhildur Hansdottir Demi Koelzer. “I don’t know yet what to expect and the level of success of the team yet because we have so many freshmen but I know we have a very talented team,” said head coach Darin Grover.
Grover added that the chemistry between the players is really good. “Most of the players live together in the dorms and they are really good friends,” said Grover.
Even though the team has changed a lot from last season the players are positive about it. “We have a total different team this season but we are more close to each other,” said sophomore Brooke Lane. Her teammate, junior Ronay English, said “I think everything is going to work out good this season. We have a young but really good team.”
The Savage Storm will open the year on Nov. 9 on the road against Oklahoma Christian. The first home game is scheduled for Nov. 14 against Northeastern State in Bloomer Sullivan Arena. The first conference game is going to be on Nov. 29 when the Savage Storm travels to Henderson State. The next two conference events are scheduled for Dec. 6 against Arkansas Tech and Dec. 8 against Harding. The final home event for 2012 will be hosted on Dec. 17 against the out of conference rival St. Mary’s. The final contest of 2012 will be on Dec. 31 when the Storm travels to Bartlesville to play against Oklahoma Wesleyan.
The first game of 2013 is going to be on Jan. 3 when the Storm hosts Southern Arkansas.
