Every Monday, we wake up wondering where the weekend has gone. We grumble as we tear our way out of the sheets.
The question arises every Monday: Why must this day exist?
But if we didn’t have Mondays, wouldn’t Tuesdays become the new Monday? This would make Tuesday the day to dread for the week.
We will never be happy with the first day of the work and school week. We all get past it and move on to Tuesday. Then by Wednesday, we can all see the weekend in sight.
These two days are supposed to be relaxed, but how often does that happen? Working on homework or enjoying time with friends makes the weekend fly by, and what do you know? Monday has lurched its way around again.
The only time we enjoy Mondays are when a holiday falls on the day.
On those special occasions when school is not in session on a Monday we get a little excited. Yippee, a holiday! A day off!
You just have to decide what to do with this extra day. Stay in bed all day doing nothing? Shopping with friends? Maybe cleaning the house like you have been meaning to do for the past month? Maybe even do a little volunteering. Or best yet, catch up on homework? The choices are endless.
The week before this day off drags on for what seems like forever and a day. It starts with Monday; of course, this day goes on and on, until it is finally time to go home for the evening.
Tuesday goes by faster than Monday, but still not fast enough.
Wednesday is the middle of the week when we realize the past two days didn’t go by as slowly as we thought, but the weekend is still two days away. It passes fairly quickly.
As for Thursday, it is like a preview to Friday. Plans are coming together, and we look forward to a great, fun-filled or perhaps relaxing weekend.
Then Friday has arrived. Only eight more hours until the weekend starts. Whether it is a party with friends or just a night out, it doesn’t matter because we don’t have school or work for three whole days.
OK. The weekend can slow down now. But guess what? It doesn’t! It just speeds up like a sports car going from zero to 60 in 2.9 seconds.
Not only did Saturday and Sunday zoom by like freight trains, but this time Monday is right there with them. Normally this day drags by the slowest.
Oh, no! That sneaky Tuesday has arrived. And it’s time again to get into gear and get the day started.
Then your whole week is thrown off because this week Tuesday is actually Monday.
For the rest of the week, you are confused about which day it really is. For example Thursday feels like Friday. Even though it should actually feel like Wednesday.
We all complain about Monday. For most, it is the longest day of the week. But if we just keep our heads up, it will go by just like the rest.
